York Castle Museum
Year 5 pupils recently visited York Castle Museum to deepen their knowledge about Crime and Punishment during the Victorian Period. They made links to past learning, drawing on their knowledge of crime and punishment during other periods in history. Our children enjoyed investigating the Castle Jail and discovered just how harsh the conditions were for those accused in Victorian Britain. The experts at the museum brought to life a trail during those times and the children had the opportunity to vote as part of a jury and decided whether to condemn or release the defendant.
