Year 5 – Commonwealth Festival
On Tuesday, Year 5 walked to Headlands school to participate in the Commonwealth sports festival that involved the other primary schools around Bridlington.
On arrival, it was clear that the day was going to be jam packed of fun activities for the children to take part in.
Once the children were organised into their groups with their sports leader they rotated around various sports activities spending half hour on each one.
There was hockey, rugby, athletics, cricket and various other skill development and games which involved the children working together.
It was a fantastic opportunity for them to get a taste of what sport would be like once they transition to secondary school and meet some of the staff.
Another bonus of the day was the ice-cream van parked in the middle of the field!
Each child was able to pick what they wanted and could sit and have a rest whilst enjoying their treat (as well as cool off as it was very hot!)
To end the day, the children were all given a goody bag with information included on open days at Headlands school.
It was clear from the children’s smiles and comments that they really enjoyed themselves and overall it was a fantastically organised event.
