Year 4 – Murton Park
Last week, Year Four went to Murton Park to experience a day as a Roman soldier. During the morning, children dressed up as a Roman, took a tour of a Roman fort, created an oil lamp, and practised writing in Latin. Following a lunch in the barracks, Year Four then undertook weapons training, practising with a range of weapons from short sword and shield to javelins. They even defeated some Celts using the Roman’s famous Testudo formation. Finally, they ended the day by praising the Roman gods and receiving their pay. All children behaved brilliantly and were a credit to Burlington Junior School.
