Titanic Textiles
During the Autumn term, Year Four were given a design brief to create a small cushion for a passenger of the Titanic; students had to first look at designs relevant to the 1910s era, then create their own design using no more than four colours. From there, children first practised sewing using hessian strips, then crafted a step-by-step guide on creating their cushion. Finally, they applied their instruction in order to create their cushion, evaluating their creations on what went well and what they would change next time once they were complete.
