Eden Camp – Year 6
On Tuesday 21st May, The Year 6s travelled to Eden Camp, near Malton, to enhance their learning about the topic of World War 2. Eden camp used to be a prisoner of war camp, housing German and Italian prisoners, and now each of the many huts of the museum create an immersive museum for people to experience what life was like during those times. As if we were travelling back in time, we visited the build up to World War 2, the Blitz (including the sights, sounds and smells of life during those times), the armoured vehicles hanger, how war was fought including the use of human torpedoes, the role of women in war and many other aspects of World War 2. It was a fascinating experience for all, even playing the games which children would have played at that time.
