On Wednesday and Thursday, year 3 pupils visited Wilberforce House in Hull.  This museum is all about William Wilberforce who was born in Hull and his campaign to abolish slavery.  The children got to handle artefacts similar to those that William Wilberforce would have used and see coins, medals and plaques commemorating his life and work.  They learned about the ‘Trade Triangle’ and how goods were exported between the Americas, Europe and Africa, including black people.  They learnt how black people were bought as slaves and shipped to other parts of the world to work in the fields.  The abuse and conditions that they were subjected to and that modern day slavery is still going on in our country.
