On Thursday, a group of girls and me from years 4 and 5 went to Elvington Airfield, York, for a STEM event. We took part in many mixed science activities that inspired us to become one of several scientists, engineers or mathematicians that we heard about during the events. A popular one that a lot of us liked was planting a pea seed in some sort of gel, then leaving it until the six-week holidays before taking it home. Four girls-me, Emily (year 5), Freya (also year 5), and Ruby (year 4) built a Lego tower as a challenge in one of the activities and received a plane ticket, which meant that we could explore a Nimrod plane with the engineer of the plane. It was a fascinating experience that some people would wait years for! Then we sat at a bench and wrote down the aspects of our amazing day. Finally, we went home in the bus. It was incredible, and if I could, I’d re-live it a million times.
Class 8, Year 5.
