Yesterday our School Council visited a local Care Home, Applegarth Court, for Older People’s Day. They had a wonderful time playing “play your cards right”, chatting to the residents and having some refreshments. Both the residents and the pupils had fun learning about each other and finding their common ground. The children learnt about dementia and its impact on the family, although some of our children have grandparents/relatives who they help to care for. The children were a credit to Burlington Junior School and showed their understanding of the needs of the elderly – the same as ours – laughter, kindness, time, fun and love. All the good stuff that is free!
